Now an elderly man, Benny sits alone in his small Riverside, California apartment, staring at his blood-stained hands, questioning whether he's the one responsible for the violence around him. How could he be? If only women treated him the way he believed he deserved, none of this would have happened. How many times has he warned them? Benny's mother always praised him as her special boy, the most talented and handsome of all his peers. So why can't his wives and lovers see him that way? As he tries to make sense of the attack that has left him covered in blood, he reflects on the calculated cruelty he has inflicted on those closest to him. This psychological suspense novel unfolds across a shifting timeline, exploring the life of a slowly developing sociopath, the toll it takes on his family and lovers, and the unexpected form of retribution he ultimately faces.
