The Streets Of LaGrange
$6.99 Quick ViewThe Streets Of LaGrange
For more than three decades Jimmy McPhail has listened with an ear of disbelief as minority victims and witnesses shared their stories. While the plot and the characters changed, the theme always remained the same. Themes of injustice, hatred and discrimination were the three most reoccurring themes. From verbal and physical abuse, workplace discrimination and even police brutality, the residents of LaGrange have seen it all. Some have been threatened, others beaten, and a few killed. For far too many years, these people have been the recipients of unfair and unjust treatment. Many of them are now dead and gone, yet their stories live on. The Streets of LaGrange is a compilation of their delicate and intricately woven stories.

In My Brother’s Shadow
$8.55 Quick ViewIn My Brother’s Shadow
I was under my brother’s age by nearly two years. His birthday is May of ’54, and mine is June of ’56. The moniker *ME TOO* came about since my uncle used to call me that because I was always trying to be just like my brother in everything. I started to beat him in basketball in junior high and high school. He was faster in shorter races, but I was faster in longer ones. That’s when we built a relay team that has between ten and twelve national records. After that, I got quicker in the smallest distance. I’m not sure why, but we ended up competing against each other more than our rivals. I lost a lot of scholarships for reasons I’m still not sure of, but even though we broke both the national mark at Madison Square Garden and the relay team record at Spectrum, our greatest accomplishment as a unit was Jesse Owens awarding us our medals at Spectrum. You had best have the Lord in your life because you will need God to help you with the decisions and choices you make. I was aware that tuition reimbursement was offered by Fortune 500 firms, so I know that no matter what happens in life, there is always hope for the best because of the Lord. That’s the only way I can survive. I am grateful, Jesus! After that, I create life-saving products for Johnson & Johnson and receive two patents for them. God is benevolent. I’m grateful, Jesus. One of the main reasons I wrote this book was after seeing a white police officer choke a black man for 10 minutes without cause; I make products that save lives, and here’s this white guy choking a black man for no apparent reason.

$8.99 Quick ViewRejecting Offense, Strife, and Unforgiveness
Rejecting Offense, Strife, and Unforgiveness: Rediscovering the Use of the Tongue speaks the plain truth about the great power that the tongue the words spoken in the midst of relationships has to bring pain by opening up wounds. On the other hand, when Christians rediscover the guidance of the Holy Spirit and then redirect the intentions of their words, they can use the tongue for upbuilding one another, seeking peace, and offering forgiveness.
The author, Samuel Kioko Kiema, draws upon his own experiences of coming to faith in Jesus Christ and of following the Spirit's calling to minister as a missionary, teacher, and scholar to guide his exploration of the misuses and uses of the tongue in families, communities, ministries, and businesses.
Rejecting Offense, Strife, and Unforgiveness, drawing upon a wealth of passages from the Scriptures and offering seasoned and wise teachings rooted in those passages, presents an approachable and understandable examination of the insidious power of the tongue to bring about pain. It pairs that portrait with words of encouragement, explaining how the Spirit can guide the use of the tongue for good.
Whether you have experience with speaking words that have injured others or with hearing words that have caused you pain, Rejecting Offense, Strife, and Unforgiveness: Rediscovering the Use of the Tongue can offer you the consolation of discovering a path to encouragement, harmony, and reconciliation.$8.99
